St. Croix Off Broadway Dinner Theatre Frequently Asked Questions

What are your box office telephone hours?

Because we are trying to keep reasonable ticket prices, we haven't hired any full-time box office personnel. Therefore, the hours vary where a live person is available. Simply leave your name and number should you get the answering machine and someone will call you back within 24 hours. (It's usually sooner, but we're covering our butts!)

Phone Numbers

For 1-14 tickets call 715-386-2394 ext. 332 or book on-line. For 15+ tickets you must book through the box office to get your 10% discount by calling 715-386-2394 ext. 332. You can also mail in your order by using our form.

What is included in the ticket price?

All tickets for the dinner theatre include your meal with a nonalcoholic beverage like pop, coffee, milk, or tea; the show; all taxes; and the tip. Not included are a la carte items such as appetizers, specialty nonalcoholic and alcoholic beverages, and desserts. The matinee though does include a group dessert. Gratuities are appreciated on all additional items purchased the day you're here.

How far in advance can I place reservations?

Tickets for all shows are available any time during the season. The earlier you order, the better your chance of getting the best seats.

Do I have to purchase dinner and the show or am I able to purchase just show tickets?

Beginning with the 2008 – 2009 season, St. Croix Off Broadway Dinner Theatre is offering "show only" tickets also. Those patrons should arrive any time after 7:30PM and by 7:55PM. See Ticket Sales for pricing information. This option is only available via mail-in order form or by calling 715/386-2394 ext. 332. It is also not available for New Year's Eve or matinee performances.

Where's your seating chart?

We don't have one for a couple of reasons. The most important one is we are not connected to our on-line service so can't in real time know while we're taking a phone order whether someone might have picked that seat at the same time on-line. In addition, we do somewhat change our configuration once in awhile depending on the show and don't want the extra time involved to keep the web site updated in that area for each play. Once you've attended St. Croix Off Broadway Dinner Theatre, you will see that it is a relatively small theatre with really no bad seats. Rest assured you will get the best seat available as of the date and time of your reservation so it does pay to order early.

Will I sit with others or only my party at the dinner theatre?

We have tables for 1 - 4 OR 5 - 10 on the main floor. We can put larger groups in our balcony or split them among smaller tables on the main floor (e.g., a party of 16 could be two tables of 8). No one sits with anyone they don't know unless we are sold out. Many theatre patrons enjoy meeting new people over dinner; but if it's not for you, the best way to guarantee you won't sit with others is to have at least a group of 4 when you make your reservation.

When will I receive my tickets?

Again, in the interest of keeping reasonable ticket prices, we do not mail you your tickets, unless you absolutely want them. It's more like a dinner reservation where you arrive, announce your name, and are taken by our hostess to your reserved table. By eliminating the work involved in mailing tickets and the costs of envelopes and mailing, St. Croix Off Broadway Dinner Theatre is the best bang for your buck in the Twin Cities area. In addition, it eliminates you needing to mail your tickets back to us should you want to exchange for a different performance.

What is the latest time to arrive for dinner?

To guarantee relaxed dining we recommend that you arrive for dinner no later than thirty minutes after the seating time of 6PM, but you can arrive as late as 7PM.

Is the dinner theatre always G-rated?

Because we choose a wide variety of play titles, audience members may not always be comfortable with subject matter, language, or situations in some productions. It is our policy to post warnings on our website and on signage by the hostess station. Please remember plays are copyrighted material and we are obligated per our royalty contracts to present the play as the playwright wrote it. If you have concerns we urge you to call the box office with more specific questions.

Do you offer anything special for guests celebrating special occasions?

We would be happy to announce a special birthday or anniversary during the show announcements at the beginning of the show. All shows feature a Master or Mistress of Ceremonies who will visit your table and obtain that information from you.

Do you offer a vegetarian menu or do you cater to people with specific food allergies?

We always have a vegetarian selection on our menu for each show. If someone in your party has another kind of special dietary request or concern, please contact the box office to let them know.

What is your cancellation policy?

Tickets are nonrefundable for any reason. St. Croix Off Broadway Dinner Theatre will exchange dates on your reservation with a minimum of one day advance notice. There is no fee charged for this service.

Is smoking allowed?

Smoking is not allowed in our dinner theatre. Any plays that require smoking for the script will continue to have smoking. We will put an announcement on our web site under that play's description. All smoke/fog machines used for any shows emit harmless water vapor.

What is the policy for taking photos or videotaping?

The access to cell phones that can take pictures and videotape is jeopardizing copyright laws. We post a notice before you enter the dinner theatre and in the playbill about no photos or videotaping being allowed. Our Master of Ceremonies announces it. This is not our rule. We are required by the licensing companies of our plays to post this announcement. All of them require we mail a playbill proving to them St. Croix Off Broadway Dinner Theatre is following the requirement by including this statement in the playbill per our contract to produce their plays. Besides being illegal, it is also distracting to the actors and other patrons to see flashing lights as photos are taken or, like what happened in "Always...Patsy Cline," a woman actually could be seen holding up her phone and videotaping. If you do not feel comfortable saying something to someone, please let our stage managers know and they will take the time to talk with individuals. In the old days cameras could actually be confiscated from patrons for doing this. We encourage pictures before the show of the set or after the performance the cast would gladly have you take their picture or one with you in it. Otherwise, as we also ask because of cell phones' interference with our sound system, turn off your phones. Before they existed we all got through two hours without them. Anyone expecting an emergency call or needing to give a number to a baby-sitter, please give them the hotel's number of 715.386.2394 ext. 0 and the front desk will let us know immediately so we can quietly come in the dinner theatre during the show and let you know you are needed elsewhere.

Are you handicapped/special needs accessible?

St. Croix Off Broadway Dinner Theatre is handicapped accessible. The theatre and restrooms are all located on one level, except for our balcony used when we are sold out. It is helpful to know if you have someone in your party who will be in a wheelchair for the dinner and show so we can arrange the table accordingly and make sure you are on the main floor. Please let us know if you have any other special needs and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Can we rent out the theatre?

Yes, we would be happy to talk with you about renting out a night (or a special showing on a day we don't usually perform) for your group . We also have other private banquet space available and full in-house catering. Please call for more information on the Hudson House Grand Hotel's facilities.

Are children welcome at St. Croix Off Broadway?

Children 6 or older are welcome at all performances. If a show is deemed not appropriate for children, we will let you know. The only show that has a children's menu though and, therefore, a children's price for children ages 6 - 12 is our holiday show. All other shows are at our regular pricing.
